NEWS: The next Nikon Z9 Firmware Version 5.00 update for the flagship Z9 camera is now available as a free download.
In a bid to garner all of the camera news headlines in March 2024, Nikon has announced the next significant firmware version 5.00 for the Z9, which improves features for sports, portraits, video and productivity.
What’s new in Firmware 5.00 for the Z9?
Among the most notable upgrades for Firmware 5.00 are Auto Capture remote shooting enhancements, user-selectable focus point thickness and improved flicker reduction to prevent banding from LED lights. Nikon has also added Portrait Impression Balance and Skin Softening, which are features seen in the latest Nikon mirrorless cameras.
Additionally there are now Separate shooting banks for video, enhanced AF accuracy with the Profoto A10 Flash, plus the ability to assign more custom functionality to Fn buttons. What’s more, the Z 9 will now connect to a smartphone in station (STA) mode, giving you all the features of SnapBridge without interrupting the phone’s Wi-Fi connection to the internet.
Additional updates in firmware 5.00
You can download the Z9 firmware update 5.00 here, which also links to the preceding Ver.4.10 update as well as full instructions to follow.
With these enhancements and new feature additions, the Z9 emerges as an even more capable camera than its initial launch, emphasising the importance for camera manufacturers to offer firmware updates in order to keep their products up-to-date.
