The latest Leica mirrorless medium format S3 camera was designed in close partnership with professional photographers, resulting in an innovative, engaging and ultimately practical tool. The digital S3 body combines ultra-high resolution with Cine 4K Video and extremely practical high ISO operation. Compatible Leica medium format lenses complement the design, with focal widths ranging from 24mm to 180mm, and many available with a central shutter. These practicalities cater for photographers working within the fashion industry, portraiture, landscape photography and fine arts.
The S-System has also been designed to provide robust handling for photographers who work on location, featuring rubber armouring with dust and splash proofing. Other advancements in the system allow photographers more flexibility than a traditional medium format camera. These include revised predictive autofocus, relatively fast frame rates thanks to the Maestro Processor and lens adapters for mounting an even greater number of Leica optics.
Photographers are often required to provide video clips and the S-System performs admirably by delivering full-HD resolution, across the entire 30 x 45 mm medium format sensor. Shallow depth of field ensure both video and stills achieve the look associated with both Leica and this larger format.
