With the TG-5, Olympus' flagship Tough camera has just got a whole lot better leading the way in ultimate, go-anywhere, tough cameras that are ready to capture the highlights of your latest adventure. The Olympus TG-5 has been improved across the board to offer better overall image quality in a wider range of conditions and to enhance the adventure capturing capabilities of the camera. Fitted with a new 12MP sensor, the TG-5 boasts improved low-light shooting capabilities with a maximum ISO up to 12,800, as well as a wider dynamic range in normal conditions and reduced noise. Debuting 4K video at 30p and Full HD video at up to 120fps high-speed video, the TG-5 allows adventurers to capture their images and video in even greater detail than before. Overall Improved Image Quality, Better Tracking, More Sharing Capabilities
The Olympus Tough TG-5 boasts an overall improved image quality in a wider range of conditions, thanks to its new 12megapixel backlit CMOS sensor, faster image processor taken out of the flagship OM-D E-M1 Mark II, and a version of Pro Capture mode that's previously only been featured in the professional OM-D lineup. A new temperature sensor adds to the existing GPS, Manometer and Compass to give a battery of four Field Sensors to integrate data into your images and video, which can be easily shared through the WiFi and via the OI.Track app.
Features Designed for Outdoor Pursuits
Aside from all the improvements, the TG-5 features an ultra-bright f/2.0 lens with a 25-100mm 4x optical zoom for wide angle to telephoto shots and excellent low light capability. The Variable Macro system with Microscope, Microscope Control, Focus Bracketing and Focus Stacking modes lets you capture spectacular nature shots and they can all be capture as RAW files. The TG-5 is shockproof up to a height of 2.1 metres, crushproof to a weight of 100kg, freezeproof down to -10 degrees Celsius, dustproof, and waterproof to a depth of 15 metres without any need for any kind of special casing or housing. However, with the PT-058 underwater casing optional accessory, it will operate down to 45 metres underwater. Underwater shots will look amazing with the ultra bright f/2.0 lens and Underwater HDR mode to enhance areas of light and shadow, AF area to shift the focus within the frame, and the glove-friendly customisable mode dial together with a new control wheel and the internal Manometer.
Outstanding Video Recording
The Tough TG-5 now boasts ultra high definition 4K video at 30p, as well as Full High Definition modes to record high speed video at up to 120fps for awesome slow-motion playback.
Expand the Capabilities with Accessories
Alongside the Olympus TG-5 is a supporting range of accessories designed to allow you to take your photography and video even further. As well as the aforementioned PT-058 underwater casing, optional accessories include the LG-1 Macro Light Guide for illuminating macro subjects evenly and counteracting camera shadow, the FD-1 Flash Diffuser for redistributing light from the built-in flash to evenly illuminate close-up subjects in poor light, the FCON-T01 fisheye Converter lens for quirky, wide-angle shots in sever conditions, the TCON-T01 tele Converter lens for extreme close-ups, the CSCH-121 neoprene case for added protection against scratches and high drops, the CSCH-123 sport holder for carrying your camera hands-free and within reach on the front of a harness or backpack, the CSCH-126 silicon jacket for added protection, the CSCH-107 hard case with a carabiner hook, and finally the CHS-09 floating handstrap in red for a sporty and highly visible way to hold onto or relocate your Tough TG-5.

Our Verdict
For existing Olympus users, the Tough TG-5 offers a familiar feel, with an OM-D menu interface and rugged E-M1 Mark II-esque hand grip. Also borrowed from the E-M1 Mark II is the Pro Capture Mode, allowing you to shoot at hugely fast speeds and capture action precisely.
If you've had a TG-4 previously, the new Tough TG-5 will bring a bucket load of welcome upgrades integrating data into your action photography with a Field Sensor System of four sensors GPS, Temperature, Manometer, and Compass which are viewable on the large LCD screen and even via the OI.Track app, letting you view your images and your data simultaneously.
The Olympus Tough TG-5 represents a step-up in tough, waterproof action camera s with improved low light capabilities and tough performance, including the new Anit-Fog dual-pane glass, giving it an edge over competitors and making it a forerunner in its class.

Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.
