News: Leica M11 Glossy Black and Noctilux-M 50 Design Variants Launch
On 21st November 2024, Leica introduced two new design variants for its iconic rangefinder system with the Leica M11 Glossy Black and the Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH Lens Glossy Black.
This launch combines a distinctive glossy design with Leica’s modern digital rangefinder technology, appealing to Leica enthusiasts, photographers, and collectors. This particular M11 body is designed to attract a patina over time with use, and is complement by the Noctilux’s unique aesthetic.
Discover more in this news post as we explore the key features of these latest additions to the M system and how they combine Leica’s heritage with innovation.
The Leica M11 Glossy Black is an elegant reinterpretation of Leica’s current M11 rangefinder camera. Its design exudes charm, and will create a unique patina over time, making each camera personal to the owner. This model’s underlying functionality is identical to the regular M11, with purely design changes setting it apart, differing from the M11-D Rangefinder, which adds usability updates.
Beneath its distinctive exterior, the M11 Glossy Black features state-of-the-art technology centred around a 60MP full-frame sensor with Triple Resolution Technology. This allows photographers to capture 60, 36, or 18 megapixel images using the full sensor area. This versatility lets users balance resolution with storage and processing needs, while maintaining exceptional image quality at all resolutions.
With a native ISO range of 64 to 50,000, the M11 delivers high image quality in virtually any lighting conditions, and features an advanced metering system for more precise exposures in Live View and rangefinder modes.
Despite its traditional appearance, the M11 Glossy Black offers future-proof connectivity, which includes 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and compatibility with the highly-regarded Leica FOTOS app. This integration allows for seamless image transfer, remote control, and geotagging amongst other features.
Leica has designed new accessories, which join a range of existing accessories for the M11. These include a newly launched M System Camera Bag Taupe, Leica Leather Camera Carrying Strap Taupe and Leica M11 Leather Protector Taupe.
The Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH Lens Glossy Black pays homage to one of Leica’s most legendary lenses from 1966. The reimagined version combines the same signature f/1.2 aperture with a modern optical design and exclusive glossy black aesthetic, creating a lens that bridges the past and present.
Known for its signature dreamlike quality, the Noctilux’s wide f/1.2 aperture delivers striking subject separation and smooth, characterful bokeh. Its optical design includes special aspherical lens elements, which ensure sharpness, colour accuracy, and controlled aberrations.
The glossy black paint finish accompanies elegant touches, such as the red distance scale, and a round lens hood with a similar finish, which perfectly complement the M11 Glossy Black camera body. The Noctilux lens is compatible with the Leica M-System and can also be used with SL cameras when using the M-Adapter L, ensuring compatibility across Leica’s ecosystem.
The Leica M11 Glossy Black and Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH Lens Glossy Black blend classic Leica craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, appealing not only to Leica aficionados, but to photographers who demand exceptional performance.
Leica retains a unique ability within the industry to combine artistic expression with precision engineering, and the glossy black camera and lens will no doubt become iconic additions to the rangefinder lineup.
The Leica M11 Glossy Black is priced at £7,900, and the Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH Lens Glossy Black is available for £6,900. Both can be purchased from 21st November 2024 at Park Cameras, an authorised Leica retailer, or through the online store.
The Leica M11 Rangefinder Camera Glossy Black and Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH Lens Glossy Black are a celebration of Leica’s rich history and ongoing innovation, which combine timeless aesthetics with state-of-the-art performance.
