DJI Neo 2 Price and Release Date

The DJI Neo 2 release date was 13th November 2025, and it becomes one of the most affordable drones in DJI’s ecosystem. When looking at the DJI Neo 2 price, it’s clear that all three versions offer excellent value for money, especially considering the upgrades introduced in this generation.

If you’ve been considering getting into aerial content or want a personal ‘follow-me camera drone,’ this might just be the perfect time.

Prices at launch are:

  1. DJI Neo 2 (Drone Only) £209.00
  2. DJI Neo 2 Fly More Combo £349.00
  3. DJI Neo 2 Motion Fly More Combo £509.00

Each variant includes the same aircraft but different accessories, with the Motion Combo adding DJI Goggles N3 and the RC Motion 3 controller for an immersive FPV-style flight experience. We explore the combos and what’s included later, but for now let’s find out what’s new.

Even the Combo is ultra compact

What’s new in DJI Neo 2?

Building on the popularity of the original, this model adds a series of upgrades to flight, safety, imaging and control. As of November 2025, Neo 2 is the most compact drone in DJI’s line-up to feature omnidirectional obstacle sensing with forward-facing LiDAR, providing awareness of obstacles from all directions.

This makes flying safer indoors and outside, while improving hovering accuracy over reflective or uneven surfaces such as water or snow. The camera system has been reworked too, with a 12MP 1/2-inch CMOS sensor and an f/2.2 aperture, which deliver clearer images with reduced noise and better performance in low light.

Video can now be recorded at up to 4K/60fps and 4K/100fps slow motion, with a new 2-axis mechanical gimbal allowing for smoother footage compared with the previous 1-axis gimbal.

Other useful changes include a new display and take-off button on the aircraft, and a mode switch for quicker operation. Internal storage has been upgraded by more than 2X to 49GB, so you can record more content before needing a memory card.

Neo 2 also adds Gesture Control in Spotlight or Follow mode, Return to Palm, and SelfieShot, all of which simplify operation while adding hands-free control. Additional features such as Dolly Zoom, MasterShots and Cycling Follow add even more creative options to get brilliant results straight from the app, with no piloting experience necessary.

These upgrades certainly make the Neo 2 one of the most beginner-friendly camera drones DJI has ever released, but how good is the image quality?

Capturing images while follow me jogging

What is Neo 2 image quality like?

The new 12MP 1/2-inch sensor in Neo 2 is quite large for such a compact drone, and it can produce crisp, colourful results with good levels of detail, which is perfect for sharing online. There’s 4K video up to 60fps and optional 100fps slow-motion mode when using the remote or motion controller.

A 2-axis mechanical gimbal stabilises footage while reducing shake during forward or turning movements, and RockSteady stabilisation is available to smooth any remaining motion. Vertical 2.7K recording is supported, so you can capture ready-to-share video for social media without needing to edit or crop.

A wider f/2.2 aperture gathers more light and retains shadow detail, and if you want better 4K results without learning editing, this compact drone delivers impressive image quality for its size.

Max photo size is 12MP in either 16:9 or 4:3, however it’s limited to JPEG-only, so if you’re hoping to edit your drone photos it may be best to look at another option. Let’s look at handling and flights next.

Safer omnidirectional sensing

Is the DJI Neo 2 easy to fly?

Neo 2 is designed for beginner pilots, with a newly added omnidirectional vision system and forward-facing LiDAR that make it far safer by detecting obstacles in every direction. This allows smoother, more stable navigation, even when flying close to trees or buildings.

This version also improves hovering precision, and wherever you’re flying whether above grass, over water, or indoors, the drone now maintains its position with less drift, making it easier to frame shots without as much manual correction.

Replaceable full-coverage propeller guards are worth a mention too, as the integrated propeller guard design makes flying and carrying safer, and you can fly nearer obstacles without worrying as much.

There are some modes available to use depending on how you want to fly:

  • Cine Mode limits speed to 0.5 m/s for smooth, cinematic pans.
  • Normal Mode increases responsiveness for general use.
  • Sport Mode reaches up to 12 m/s, perfect for following action scenes or faster subjects.

Other new features that make it really easy to fly include:

  • Palm take-off and landing for quick launches when there’s no flat surface around
  • Gesture Control and Return to Palm for hands-free flight operation.

We look at Gesture Control in more detail next, as it really makes it easier than ever to pilot the drone, and you don’t need a controller when using gestures.

Mountain biking with the Neo 2

How does Gesture Control for the drone work?

Gesture Control adds another layer of simplicity for beginners, and allows you to launch, record and land the drone completely hands-free using a few intuitive movements. Raise one arm to bring the drone back, or hold out your palm to make it hover nearby for example.

The system recognises gestures from around 2-5 metres away and works best in good lighting, which makes it perfect for family videos or selfie-shots without needing the controller.

There are some caveats though, including that it only works in Spotlight or Follow modes only (not with the remote or motion controller). You need a decent amount of light with between 5 and 100,000 lux, and if you’re wearing gloves the drone may not recognise your gestures. All in all though it’s pretty amazing that you can use gestures to pilot the Neo 2 and is definitely a feature to keep an eye on. Speaking of which, what other intelligent modes are there? Let’s find out next.

Piloting more safely

Which intelligent modes does Neo 2 have?

DJI has added lots of creative modes to help users capture better footage with minimal effort. Many of these work automatically, while others can be selected in the DJI Fly app or via compatible remotes.

  1. Neo 2 supports FocusTrack, which includes ActiveTrack, Spotlight, Point of Interest, and the new Cycling Follow option for smoother subject tracking.
  2. There’s also QuickShots, including Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Helix, and Boomerang, which automatically create cinematic movements with a single tap.
  3. For more advanced control, Neo 2 has MasterShots and Dolly Zoom, both of which combine camera moves and intelligent flight paths to create dramatic effects without manual input.

These intelligent modes make Neo 2 one of the most capable yet easy-to-use small drones for creating great content without needing in-depth know-how.

What's in the Combo box content?

Which Combo to choose?

There are three versions of the DJI Neo 2, each suited to a different type of pilot. The drone-only version is the simplest way to get started, and is perfect if you just want to capture quick handheld or palm-controlled shots of you, your family and friends.

The Fly More Combo adds the DJI RC-N3 Remote Controller, extra Intelligent Flight Batteries, a Two-Way Charging Hub and spare parts. This gives you precise control and longer flying sessions with less time spent charging between flights. You can also capture slow motion video when using an RC, so this is nice if you want to take your content to the next level.

For the most immersive experience there’s the Motion Fly More Combo. It includes DJI Goggles N3 and the RC Motion 3 controller, letting you see through the drone’s camera in real time and steer using natural wrist movements for a pilot’s view and entirely different experience.

Compare everything included in the DJI Neo 2 Combo Comparison Table below to find the setup that best fits how you want to fly and create.

One thing to note is that even the updated drone only flies for around 19 minutes, so having spare batteries is essential and could influence which version you choose.

Best DJI Neo 2 drone accessories

As ever there’s a range of drone accessories, which can help to extend flight time, improve safety even further and make charging or maintenance easier.

The following are available at launch:

  1. Neo 2 Digital Transceiver. This device installs onto the aircraft easily for stable, low-latency video transmission when flying with a remote controller or goggles. It’s included with both the combos but you may want to replace one, or add it if upgrading the drone-only.
  2. Neo 2 Two-Way Charging Hub, which allows you to charge up to three Intelligent Flight Batteries simultaneously in around 68 minutes and can double as a power bank for your other devices.
  3. Neo 2 Intelligent Flight Battery each provides up to 19 minutes of flight time, which is enough for multiple take-offs and landings on a single charge.
  4. Neo 2 Propeller Guard spare or replacement guards, which clip around each propeller to prevent contact with objects, improving safety for beginners and indoor flying.
  5. Neo 2 Propellers. Original DJI props that are efficient, stable and quick to replace if damaged.

There are two ways to recharge the battery, which is either by using the Two-Way Charging Hub, or via the aircraft body, which connects via USB-C, and takes roughly 70 minutes to reach full capacity.

For DJI’s smallest camera drone that can easily fit into your hand, the updated Neo 2 packs an impressive mix of usability and features. The 4K camera, omnidirectional obstacle sensing, and new gesture and palm control make it an easy drone for beginners, while still satisfying more experienced pilots who want a compact aircraft for everyday content creation.
