Peak Design Pro Tripod Prices and Release Date

The Peak Design Pro Tripod range was launched in November 2025, adding three new models on top of two existing travel tripods, which made up the entire Peak Design tripod range previously. The new professional-level carbon fibre tripods are joined by a set of accessories, and prices at launch were:

  • Pro Tripod Black – £799.00
  • Pro Tall Tripod Black – £899.00
  • Pro Lite Tripod Black – £699.00

Accessories made especially for the series include the Tilt Mod (£134.00), Pro Levelling Base (£109.00) and Spike Feet sets (£44.00 each), which we look at later in the guide.

Next, we explore the range and what the top 10 features are.

Range Overview and Key Features

The 2025 Peak Design Pro Tripod range takes what photographers love about the original Travel Tripod to a new level suitable for professional applications. The Pro, Pro Lite and Pro Tall share the same carbon fibre and aluminium materials, which provide outstanding rigidity, smooth operation and reliability for hybrid stills and video content.

Top 10 Features include:

  1. Innovative space-saving design eliminates excess volume when folded, keeping the tripod slimmer and easier to pack and transport.
  2. Integrated anchor points allow you to attach Peak Design camera straps for carrying between locations.
  3. Carbon-fibre legs and CNC-machined 6061-T6 recycled aluminium components provide excellent stability, durability and low weight.
  4. Each supports heavy camera loads, with impressive vibration damping and non-slip, shock-absorbing polyurethane feet.
  5. Quick-action leg locks allow rapid setup and pack-down, while low and inverted modes make ultra-low-angle shots easy to achieve.
  6. Re-engineered Pro Ball Head provides smooth, omnidirectional movement with instant camera locking and a built-in safety toggle.
  7. Adjustable holding force ensures secure camera positioning, even when the centre column is fully stowed.
  8. A magnetic dual-ended hex tool and optional mobile mount fit neatly inside the centre column, keeping essential accessories close at hand.
  9. Flush-fitting leg angle adjusters and redesigned cams improve handling, providing faster operation and easier cleaning after outdoor use.
  10. A flanged centre column adds strength under load while maintaining a compact profile when packed.

What’s new with the Pro Ball Head and how it has been improved over the original? Let’s find out next.

Hiking with the new tripod legs

New Peak Design Pro Ball Head

One of the most notable updates to the 2025 range is the new Pro Ball Head, which has been a completely re-engineered to deliver greater precision, control and fluidity than the original Travel Tripod head. Every element has been refined, from the locking mechanism and panning action to the tension ring and overall usability.

It now features integrated fluid panning, which allows for smoother horizontal panning for stills and video, and there’s a dedicated pan-lock control for independent movement when you need to track a subject or make more controlled panning shots. The head is also better able to produce steady, repeatable framing without the start-stop feel sometimes found in less professional ball heads.

A new quick-lock system grips the camera plate faster and more securely, while a new safety toggle prevents accidental release. The tension adjustment ring has also been upgraded, whcih provides finer control over the holding strength and makes it easier to balance heavier cameras and long lenses. Peak Design has also added a visible bubble level to the head, which enables quick alignment even if the centre column is retracted.

You even get 15º of tilt adjustment when the centre column is stowed, which provides more flexibility for landscape, product and architectural photography. The entire mechanism is made using CNC-machined aluminium parts for smoother, repeatable movement and durability.

The Pro Ball Head works with a new Peak Design Tilt Mod, which converts it into a fluid pan-and-tilt system for video content.

Which to Choose?

Choosing between the three models comes down to how and what you shoot and how much gear you need to support. All three are made with the same materials, 4-section carbon-fibre legs, and the new Pro Ball Head, but they vary in size, stiffness, minimum and maximum height.

Shooting with a telephoto super long lens

The All-Rounder Peak Design Pro Tripod

The Peak Design Pro Tripod Black sits in the middle of the new range, and will be most appealing to the majority of creators. It combines weight, payload and height perfectly, and is able to hold heavy stills or video cameras while folding away small enough to carry.

The ultimate professional tripod, the strength and stability to carry heavy cameras and lenses and shoot pro-level content, yet packable enough to take on any adventure.” Peak Design.

The legs are carbon fibre with CNC-machined aluminium hardware (like the rest of the line-up), and setup is quick thanks to the redesigned leg locks and flush angle adjusters. The new Pro Ball Head is smoother and more precise, with integrated fluid panning and a pan-lock, which is suitable for video as well as stills. You can also swap it for the Pro Levelling Base or add the Tilt Mod when you need full pan-and-tilt movement, catering to hybrid creators.

The Lightweight Peak Design Pro Lite Tripod

The Peak Design Pro Lite Tripod is the lightest, which is ideal for creators who travel frequently or prefer an easier carry. It weighs just 1.7 kg and folds to under 50 cm, yet still features the same high-quality carbon legs with CNC-machined aluminium hardware and new Pro Ball Head.

For travel, hybrid content on the go, or creators who work a lot at different locations, the Pro Lite makes a great compromise between portability and payload. It’s smaller than the Pro but stronger and more rigid than many compact travel tripods.

Studio legs

The über-tall Peak Design Pro Tall Tripod

If you’re considering the Pro Tall it’s likely you are tall and/or shoot outdoors, often on hillsides or slopes, or over obstacles. It extends to an impressive 197.4 cm, allowing eye-level shooting the very tallest users, and supports camera gear up to 18.1 kg.

The added leg length improves stiffness when the centre column is kept down, which is ideal for video, panoramas and long exposures. Handling is similar to the standard Pro, with the same smooth leg locks and controls, though the extra reach gives it a more stable feel when fully extended.

Accessories

Peak Design has made a number of accessories for the Pro Tripod range.

  1. Tilt Mod (£134.00) converts the Pro Ball Head into a fluid pan-and-tilt system for video panning. It includes fluid drag, a spring-loaded counterbalance, and an extendable handle for controlled movement.
  2. Pro Levelling Base (£109.00) replaces the ball head to give quick, precise horizon levelling when using a video, gimbal or three-way head. It’s machined from aluminium and keeps the tripod compact.
  3. Spike Feet Pro and Pro Lite Spikes (£44.00 each) provide extra grip on soft or uneven surfaces such as grass, mud or snow. They screw directly into the legs without tools and come in two sizes.

These accessories make the system even more versatile, allowing hybrid creators and filmmakers to adjust their setup for location recording.

Pro Tripod vs Peak Design Travel Tripod Carbon

When the original Peak Design Travel Tripod launched, it set a new benchmark for portability and design features. Its slim, 5-section legs and compact ball head make it ideal for photographers on the move, and the carbon version weighs just 1.27 kg and holds up to 9.1 kg of gear.

The new Pro range is closely related. The Pro Lite in particular has similar travel-friendly features but is for heavier loads. At 1.7 kg it’s heavier, but supports up to 15.9 kg and extends higher to 162.5 cm. The legs use a 4-section design resulting in added stiffness, and the new Pro Ball Head offers smoother fluid panning with independent pan and tension controls.

The newer model is more stable and refined, but the Travel Tripod still leads for weight and portability, both of which are important factors if you’re wondering how to choose a travel tripod.

Peak Design works hard for the environment and every product is climate neutral certified, with recycled materials, minimal packaging, and repairability. These tripods use responsibly sourced recycled 6061-T6 aluminium and carbon fibre, and PD donates 1% for the Planet. Good work guys!

Whether you choose the Pro Lite for travel, the Pro as an all-round support, or the Pro Tall for maximum reach, every model works well for hybrid photographers and filmmakers who want to carry less while still being able to support heavy loads.
