OM System M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-600mm f/5.0-6.3 IS Lens in More Detail
Capture unique results
With an equivalent zoom range of 300-1200mm (35mm) the 150-600mm f/5.0-6.3 IS Lens enables you to capture unique shots of subjects, which might otherwise be too distant in the frame. The ability to keep your distance from sensitive natural subjects also opens up new possibilities to create compelling images of shy animals and birds, which are harder to photograph in wild settings.
Powerful image stabilisation
Continue shooting regardless of lighting conditions with powerful 5-axis sync IS developed by OM System for steady handheld shots at 2400mm (35mm equiv.) for untroubled wildlife photography. The lens achieves 6-stops (wide) and 5-stops (tele) without a compatible camera, or up to 7-stops (wide) and 6-stops (tele) with a Sync IS compatible camera.
Teleconverter ready
Those who shoot even more distant subjects can simply mount the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital MC-14 1.4x Teleconverter or the 2.0x model for an equivalent full-frame range of up to 2400mm. This unmatched performance yet again opens new avenues for bird and wildlife photographers to capture creative images, with unmatched closeness to your subjects. Adding the MC-20 teleconverter also increases magnification to 2x for brilliant tele-macro performance.
Reach combined with image quality
The 150-600mm F5.0-6.3 IS lens combines optical innovations in a small package, with a host of Super ED, ED, HD, and HR elements. This optical formula can deliver the highest quality in super telephoto shooting. The lens construction is comprised of 25 elements in 15 groups, which includes 4 Super ED lenses, 2 ED lenses, 6 HR lenses, and 1 HD lens.
High magnification
Capture subjects such as small delicate butterflies and insects effortlessly as this super telephoto lens achieve 0.7x magnification (35mm equivalent) at 0.53m focus distance.
Comprehensive controls
The OM System M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-600mm f/5.0-6.3 IS Lens provides quick access to features such as focus limiter, focus mode, IS settings and a programmable lens function button. These lens barrel controls place intuitive control within easy reach of your fingertips, so that you never have to take your eye from the viewfinder.
Shoot during rainfall
Thanks to IPX1 certified weather sealing and a fluorine coating on the front, the water beads off the front lens element. These features allow you to keep shooting so you don't miss a great image, even when it rains.

Our Verdict
OM System is bolstering their range of lenses for bird and wildlife photographers with the introduction of the M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-600mm f/5.0-6.3 IS. This super telephoto zoom lens offers an unmatched range of up to 2400mm (35mm equivalent), when used with a 2.0x teleconverter.
The lens combines all of the benefits for which the micro four thirds system is known, with extensive reach, great image quality and comprehensive weather sealing, without the excess weight of an equivalent full-frame lens. In fact it only weighs a hair over 2kg, measures just 109.4 x 264.4mm, and is capable of achieving superb results of any distant subjects.
The 150-600mm f/5.0-6.3 IS also provides the opportunity to capture close-up tele-macro style shots of flowers and insects thanks to high magnification and a close minimum focus distance, which is further enhanced when shooting with a teleconverter.
Other notable features include comprehensive controls to limit the focus distance, an adjustable image stabilisation setting, and there’s a customisable button to tailor the lens to suit your workflow. Image stabilisation is impressive regardless of which camera you’re using, with between 5-stops and 7-stops depending on the zoom extension and body attached.
This is one of the most impressive super telephoto lenses available for micro four thirds cameras, which will unquestionably appeal to advanced photographers who capture images of small birds and distant wildlife.
