Panasonic Updates Lumix Lab and Firmware

NEWS: Panasonic announces a series of updates across the LUMIX ecosystem, including new features for the LUMIX Lab and LUMIX Flow apps, alongside firmware enhancements for selected LUMIX cameras and full-frame S Series lenses.

These updates will be available from 20th October 2025, and are designed to streamline workflows, improve customisation, and add new creative tools for users across both photo and video.

Panasonic Updates Lumix Lab and Firmware

LUMIX Lab App Version 2.0

LUMIX Lab receives a major update with Version 2.0, introducing a new feature called Magic LUT. This tool allows users to create custom looks from any image. Simply select a reference photo, and the app will match the colours, tones and mood, generating a LUT file you can apply to your own footage.

  • Magic LUT works with JPEG, HEIF and MP4 files, and supports images taken on other cameras and smartphones as well as LUMIX models.
  • LUTs can be fine-tuned before saving, and users can adjust the intensity in-camera for both preview and recording.

LUMIX Flow App Version 1.3

Version 1.3 expands LUMIX Flow app compatibility to include the S5II, S5IIX, and GH7, with several improvements for supported models:

  • Improved mirroring and the ability to connect up to four devices simultaneously
  • Vertical UI support for use with external monitors
  • Updated storyboard tools, including the option to add blank sub-shots
  • LUT view assist is now available in the app, mirroring the live LUT preview on compatible cameras
  • Support for multiple frame markers, matching the camera’s live view display
  • Enhanced AF frame overlays for subject recognition and automatic detection

Firmware Updates for Select S Series and GH Cameras

S5II (v3.4) and S5IIX (v2.4)

  • Support for LUMIX Flow v1.3 or above
  • Faster startup time
  • Bluetooth compatibility added for DJI RS 4 Pro, RS 4, and RS 4 Mini
  • Enhanced focus ring customisation: the focus ring can now be used as a control ring for assigning custom functions, and users can choose clockwise or anti-clockwise rotation*

LUMIX S9 (v1.6)

  • Updated focus ring behaviour, as above, now available on S9

GH7 (v1.5) and G9II (v2.5)

  • Support for LUMIX Flow v1.3 or above
  • Faster startup performance
  • Bluetooth connection for DJI RS 4 Series gimbals now supported*

Firmware Updates for LUMIX S Prime Lenses

The following S Series prime lenses receive Version 2.0 firmware updates:

  • S 18mm F1.8
  • S 24mm F1.8
  • S 35mm F1.8
  • S 50mm F1.8
  • S 85mm F1.8
  • S 100mm F2.8 MACRO

Each of these lenses now supports focus ring customisation*, allowing users to reassign key functions and choose the direction of manual focus rotation.

All firmware and app updates will be available from 20th October 2025 via the official LUMIX Global Customer Support site and app stores.
