Antigravity A1 8K 360 Drone Explorer Bundle Summary

The Antigravity A1 8K 360 Drone Explorer Bundle is a completely new type of drone from Insta360, which offers 8K 360 video capture and an immersive flying experience that is different to a traditional camera drone.

This Explorer bundle includes the drone, Vision goggles, Grip motion controller and a wider selection of accessories to help you stay out for longer.

The key appeal of the A1 is that it records everything around it at once while deleting any sign of the drone itself. You don’t need to angle a camera up or down, or ever worry about missing a moment. The dual-lens system captures the upper and lower hemispheres and the drone uses clever stitching to completely remove itself from the image.

Pilots who are used to a 360º workflow will recognise this type of editing straight away. The A1 is suitable for beginners who want an easy first drone, as well as more experienced content creators who want the flexibility of reframing content after flying.

The piloting experience is driven by FreeMotion controls using Vision goggles and the Grip controller. These allow you to look in one direction while flying in another, which opens up a different way of flying compared with a standard joystick experience. The goggles provide a clear 360 live feed, while the drone keeps the overall experience simple thanks to folding arms, a travel case and a 249 g weight.

Where the Explorer Bundle differs is in the extras you get for longer outings. It includes three flight batteries instead of two, a charging hub that helps you reset between flights and a sling bag to carry everything together. These additions give you more freedom to stay out for longer without breaking the flow of a session.

Antigravity A1 8K 360 Drone Explorer Bundle in More Detail

What makes the Antigravity A1 different from a normal drone camera?

The Antigravity A1 is different from a standard drone because it records 8K using two ultra-wide lenses, which are mounted at the top and bottom of the aircraft. These work together to capture a full sphere around the drone.

The first benefit is that nothing is missed. Every direction is recorded at once, so you can fly without worrying about where the camera is pointed, just like using a 360 action camera. The drone  also removes itself automatically from footage by using stitching algorithms, leaving a seamless 360º view that can be explored after the flight itself.

Another benefit is reframing. Users can export various formats including widescreen, vertical, or square footage from the same clip. For creators who post across several platforms, this saves time and avoids repeated flights to get other aspect ratios.

How immersive is the live view through the Vision goggles?

The included goggles provide a 360 live feed with head tracking, so the scene shifts around as you move your head. This is very different to a narrow FPV view. The Micro-OLED displays offer 2560x2560 resolution per eye, which is supported by a pancake optical system to keep the headset compact.

A 90º field of view gives a natural sense of space without feeling distorted either. Dioptre adjustment ranges from +2 to -5, and a detachable battery reduces weight on your face fora more comfortable experience. The goggles also support 8K VR playback, so you can rewatch flights with the same immersive feeling, which is almost like you’re actually in the sky.

How does the Grip controller change the way you fly?

The Grip controller removes the need for twin control sticks. Instead the drone flies where you point. You hold the unit like a laser pointer, aim, and pull the trigger. The drone moves in that direction while keeping the 360 view stable.

This is brilliant for beginners who want easy control of the drone without the learning curve of FPV piloting, and also suits casual content creators who want easy controls. Experienced pilots can still make precise movements with the A1, but the flying style is more immediate and intuitive.

What does post-flight reframing mean for video content?

Since the A1 captures all angles around itself, you can adjust the camera view afterwards. This is ideal when you spot something in the corner of the frame or want to create several edits from one flight. If you missed a moment in the air, you can simply reframe to recover it after landing.

Want to create a horizon flip or Tiny Planet effect? These types of special effects can be added during editing without the loss of any video quality. For creators already use a 360 camera, the workflow will feel very familiar.

How portable and safe is the A1 drone?

The drone weighs 249 g and folds into a compact case, so it is easy to travel and hike with. It is under the registration threshold for many regions, which simplifies its use for beginners. Safety features include Return to Home, obstacle sensing on the front and bottom, and a payload detection system that stops unauthorised attachments.

When used with the optional landing pad, the drone can detect the pad and land with improved accuracy.

Who are Antigravity and what’s the idea behind this 360 drone?

Antigravity is a new drone company developed with support from Insta360, created by a team who wanted to change how small drones are used. Their goal is to make flying more immersive and easier to pick up, with full 360 capture built directly into the aircraft rather than added on as an accessory. Their focus is on simple controls and a viewing experience that lets you explore the whole scene while you fly.
