This kit includes the RF-S 18-45mm F/4.5-6.3 IS STM wide to short telephoto crop format zoom lens, which is perfect for a variety of subjects thanks to a versatile 29-72mm (full-frame equivalent) zoom range.
It features an optical image stabiliser which assist in low light handheld shooting, with up to 4-stops advantage with the R50, rising to 7-stops when combined with certain other models, which include combined body-lens IS.
Other benefits which this compact RF-S 18-45mm lens provides include a close minimum focus distance of just 15cm in manual mode, plus a large maximum 0.25x magnification. This allows you to experiment with exaggerated perspectives and get close to your subject, as well as making a great option for vlogging and selfies.

The 2.36M Dot EVF offers a bright and clear preview of the scene, while the vari-angle 3-inch touchscreen provides articulation for vlogging and selfies. There’s even a quick access red video record button to ensure content creators can swiftly start recording video at up to 4K/30p instantly.
APS-C format sensor
The EOS R50 is the latest APS-C format EOS R camera, with a smaller format which is perfect for anything from landscapes to travel, as well as getting closer to distant subjects like wildlife, due to the 1.6x crop factor when compared to the same focal length on a full-frame camera. The R50 sensor also provides a wide ISO range, for great low light capabilities, when handholding the camera.

Our Verdict
This combination makes a lot of sense for anyone moving up from a phone or fixed-lens compact. The EOS R50 body is small and approachable, but features such as subject recognition, 15fps shooting and oversampled 4K provide plenty to explore as your photography or video develops.
The 18-45mm zoom keeps the overall package light and covers the focal lengths most beginners are likely to use day to day. Landscapes, people, holidays, pets and general photography are all comfortably within its range, while the vari-angle screen and quiet focusing make the same setup useful for vlogging and other video.
There’s also room to grow without replacing the body immediately. EOS R cameras use the RF mount, giving access to a much wider range of compatible optics when you want something brighter, wider or longer than the included zoom.
Power comes from the Canon LP-E17 battery, so an additional battery can be useful for travel or longer days away from a charger.

Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.
