Product Summary
This kit combination is particularly well matched to projects where stills and video need to be captured without changing equipment. From establishing shots and groups at the wide end to portraits and tighter details at 70mm, the included zoom covers many of the perspectives needed during weddings, events and commercial shoots.
The hybrid body balances resolution with considerable speed, including a deeper buffer capable of recording up to 150 RAW images in a burst when using compatible CFexpress media. Pre-continuous shooting can capture up to 20 frames before the shutter is fully pressed, providing another advantage when important moments are difficult to anticipate.
Video capabilities extend the same hybrid approach, with high-resolution RAW recording alongside full-sensor Open Gate capture for projects destined for different platforms. The constant f/2.8 aperture, optical stabilisation and quiet Nano USM focusing of the included zoom complement these features when moving between photography and filmmaking.
In More Detail
32.5 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor
The EOS R6 Mark III uses a 32.5 megapixel full-frame sensor, providing increased resolution compared to earlier models in the series. This allows greater detail for large prints and more flexibility when cropping images without losing quality.
The sensor supports a balance between resolution and speed, making it suitable for both detailed stills and fast-moving subjects.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II and subject tracking
Autofocus is driven by Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, which detects and tracks people, animals and vehicles across the frame. The system maintains focus as subjects move, even in low light down to approximately –6.5EV.
Register People Priority allows up to 10 faces to be stored and prioritised, which is useful in situations where specific individuals need to remain in focus, such as weddings or events.
Up to 40fps shooting with pre-shooting
The camera supports continuous shooting at up to 40 frames per second using the electronic shutter. Pre-shooting allows frames to be captured before the shutter is fully pressed, helping to record moments that might otherwise be missed.
This supports fast-paced photography such as wildlife, sport and action sequences.
7K RAW video and Open Gate recording
The EOS R6 Mark III records up to 7K 60p RAW video, using the full width of the sensor to capture detailed footage. This supports professional editing workflows where resolution and flexibility are required.
Open Gate recording captures the entire sensor area, allowing footage to be reframed into different aspect ratios for platforms such as social media, without needing multiple takes.
Stabilisation and handheld shooting
In-body image stabilisation provides up to 8.5 stops of correction when used with compatible lenses. This supports handheld shooting for both stills and video, particularly in lower light conditions.
This allows slower shutter speeds to be used without introducing motion blur from camera shake.
RF 24-70mm f/2.8L optical performance
The 24-70mm focal range is widely used for professional event photography and hybrid content creation as it provides a flexible focal range, covering wide-angle scenes at 24mm and closer framing at 70mm. This supports a wide range of subjects without needing to change lenses.
The optical design uses aspherical and ultra-low dispersion elements to maintain sharpness and reduce chromatic aberration. Air Sphere Coating reduces flare and ghosting when shooting in strong light.
Constant aperture and stabilisation in use
The constant f/2.8 aperture maintains consistent exposure while zooming and supports control over depth of field for subject separation.
Optical image stabilisation provides up to 5 stops of correction, supporting handheld shooting in lower light.
Real-world handling
The camera provides a balance between performance and portability, making it suitable for extended shooting sessions without the size of integrated grip bodies.
Combined with the 24-70mm zoom, this kit allows quick adjustments to composition while maintaining autofocus tracking and exposure consistency.
RF lens ecosystem
The RF lens range is for EOS R mirrorless cameras, offering a wide selection of focal lengths, aperture ranges and designs to suit any application. The RF mount allows fast communication between lens and body, supporting responsive autofocus, stabilisation and consistent exposure control.
Optical performance is maintained across the frame, with designs that focus on sharpness, contrast and control over aberrations. Many include image stabilisation and close focusing capabilities, which expand their use across different types of photography and video.
The range includes compact everyday models, professional L-series optics and hybrid VCM designs with smooth aperture control and quiet autofocus. This gives users the option to create a system around their shooting style as needs evolve.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the main differences from the EOS R6 Mark II?
The third generation increases resolution from 24.2MP to 32.5MP and adds features including pre-continuous shooting, Register People Priority, 7K RAW and full-sensor Open Gate recording. It is a particularly significant upgrade for photographers who also produce video.
Why choose this kit instead of the 24-105mm option?
The 24-105mm provides greater reach, whereas the included standard zoom maintains a brighter f/2.8 aperture throughout its range. This can be particularly valuable indoors, in lower light and when stronger background separation is desirable.
Which memory cards should I use?
There is one CFexpress Type B slot and one SD UHS-II slot. SD cards are suitable for many everyday shooting modes, while CFexpress provides the sustained write performance required for the most data-intensive video settings and longer high-speed bursts.
Can I record photos and video to separate cards?
Yes. The dual-slot system provides several recording options, including assigning still images and movies to different cards, as well as automatic card switching and recording to both cards where supported.
Would I need any other lenses for professional events?
The included focal range covers many common situations from groups and environmental scenes to portraits and details. A wider option can help in confined spaces, while a telephoto is useful when greater working distance or tighter framing is required.
