Sony FE 24-50mm f/2.8 G Lens in More Detail
Outstanding G Series resolution
The FE 24-50mm f/2.8 G Lens features an optical design with 16 lens elements arranged in 13 groups, with four aspherical elements, and two ED elements. These help to reduce aberrations and render extremely sharp details throughout the focal range, even when shooting with 60MP high resolution cameras like the A7R V and A7CR.
11 Circular aperture blades
Achieve sharp focus with creamy background blur and rounded bokeh, courtesy of spherical aberration control, a bright maximum aperture, and an 11-bladed circular aperture unit. These cutting-edge technologies, integrated into this efficient G lens, deliver breathtaking results with precision and finesse.

Fast and precise autofocus for stills and video
Benefit from fast, accurate and quiet autofocus for both photography and filmmaking, ensured by two Linear Motors. The autofocus system is capable of keeping up with high frame rates such as 4K120p and 30fps continuous shooting. Typically featured in Sony's proficient G lenses, these offer higher thrust and silent focus capabilities, ensuring you never miss a moment, whether capturing stills or video.
Versatile close-up performance with high magnification
Following the trend in newer Sony lenses such as second generation FE 70-200mm F/4 G OSS II, the 24-50mm f/2.8 G offers a high 0.3x magnification with close 0.19m minimum focus distance. These characteristics enable creators to extend the versatility of the lens with large frame-filling subjects and dynamic close-up compositions, which is ideal for product or nature shots, with greater versatility for your everyday content.

Ideal for filmmakers
With its bright maximum f/2.8 aperture, silent autofocus and minimal focus breathing, the SEL2450G is an ideal lens for filmmakers. Compatible with Sony's breathing compensation and active stabilisation, it enables the creation of cinematic shots with a lightweight setup, ensuring smooth, professional results, regardless of whether shooting handheld or with a gimbal stabiliser.
Reliable and intuitive to use
The 24-50mm zoom lens is designed for durability and intuitive creative control thanks to the inclusion of focus, zoom, and aperture rings. Customisable buttons and Linear Response MF also ensure immediate, intuitive manual focus, while the dust and moisture-resistant design increase reliability, regardless of environmental conditions.
Additionally, a Fluorine coating is applied to the front element, which reduces dirt and smears, while making it easier to clean the front lens. Sony has also retained a compact 67mm front thread, enabling the attachment of cost-effective camera lens filters, whether you need a circular polariser, variable ND or UV filter.
