At just 292g with battery and card, it packs a 20.1MP 1-inch stacked sensor and an 18-50mm equivalent ZEISS zoom into a genuinely pocketable body. Crucially, that lens starts wide enough to hold the camera at arm’s length and still fit yourself, your friends and some of the world around you into the frame.
There’s a surprising amount already built in. Product Showcase shifts focus from your face to something held towards the lens, Real-time Eye AF tracks people and animals, and a three-stop ND filter helps when bright daylight gets in the way. The three-capsule microphone can pick up sound from the front, rear or all around, with Auto mode choosing the direction for you, a windscreen supplied in the box and a 3.5mm input ready for an external mic.

One-Inch Sensor Image Quality
A 20.1MP one-inch Exmor RS sensor captures more light than a typical smartphone sensor, helping to produce natural background blur, improved low-light performance and greater tonal detail. Frequently Asked Questions
Is it any good for photography as well as vlogging?
Yes. The 20.1MP 1-inch sensor captures detailed stills, while the 18-50mm equivalent zoom covers everyday subjects including travel, groups, street scenes and wider landscapes. The main limitation for photography is the relatively short 50mm telephoto end.
Does it shoot 4K?
Yes, at up to 30p. Full HD is also available at up to 120p for slow-motion footage, while Active Mode electronic stabilisation can help smooth handheld recording at the expense of a tighter crop.
What changed from the original ZV-1?
The biggest difference is the lens, which changes from a 24-70mm equivalent range to a much wider 18-50mm equivalent range. Other additions include Cinematic Vlog settings, Creative Looks, animal Eye AF, selectable microphone direction and a more touch-focused interface.

Our Verdict
What sells the ZV-1 II is everything you don’t have to think about. The lens is attached, the microphone is built in, there’s an ND filter hiding inside and the screen flips around to face you. Pick it up, hit record and there’s very little standing between you and whatever you wanted to make.
The 18mm wide end is the upgrade you’ll notice most over the original ZV-1. Pieces to camera have more room to breathe, a friend fits into shot more comfortably, and bedrooms, cafés, hotel rooms and busy streets become much easier places to film. There is a trade-off: the previous model reached 70mm whereas this one stops at 50mm, so you gain useful width but lose some telephoto reach.
There are other limits worth knowing before you buy. 4K tops out at 30p, stabilisation is electronic rather than sensor-shift and the lens can’t be changed. If you’re already choosing different focal lengths, building rigs and planning more ambitious productions, an interchangeable-lens system gives you considerably more room to grow.
For trips, product demos, tutorials, short-form video and documenting everyday life, though, that simplicity is the attraction. You get a noticeable step up from shooting everything on a phone without turning every idea into a production, and at 292g there’s a decent chance it’ll actually be with you when something worth recording happens.

Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.
